Sunday XI Win in 1st Divsion 1 Fixture

Skipper, Hayden Cox, won the toss and decided to bat first. James Davies (24) and Evan Bownes (10) opened up and batted nicely, before Evan fell with the score on 38. We lost James in the next over, then Adam Parsons and Jake Tomlinson to two good balls shortly after. At 62-4, it wasn't looking favourable. Ewan Cox (88) and Mike Cox (57) stabilised the innings and turned things back around. The Uncle/Nephew duo batted extremely well together, taking away the pressure and putting us in a very good position. Ewan was stumped, putting an end to a great 102 run partnership. Mike continued at the crease, upping the tempo which including a huge, straight six! Support from Zak Berridge (23 not out - including a nice straight six off their pace bowler) and Henry Patterson (4 not out) left us with a great total of 230-6 from our 40 overs.

Zak Berridge (7 overs, 1-38) & Henry Patterson (8.5 overs, 2-26) opened the bowling for us, and both bowled well. Zak got us off to a fantastic start, striking with his first ball! Lee Rodgers (7 overs, 2-30) replaced Zak and picked up a couple of wickets. Hayden Cox (10 overs, 3-33) claimed a 3 fer, leaving Marehay on 107-7. Ewan Cox (5 overs, 2-11) bowled nicely too. Opening bowler, Henry, came on for a second spell and finished the game by taking the final wicket. Marehay all out for 144 off of 37.5 overs.

A top win and performance to claim the full 20 points and start off the 2022 season in Division 1 following last year's promotion.
Next weekend, the Sunday XI are at home again to host Underwood CC.
