CPCC 3rd XI take 17 Points at Welbeck in another winning effort

Ward Army travelled to Welbeck today in high spirits following a good start to the campaign... Winning the toss Clumber elected to bat and made a steady start putting on 44 for the 1st wicket. Jasper batted well for his 23 including his 1st ever 6! We continued to progress nicely with every batsmen contributing (just about). The last 7 overs developed a brilliant partnership of 57 between Lily (27no) & Finley (42no) to end Clumbers Innings on 225 fer 8 on a lightening quick out field and a decent track!
We started our defence with purpose and ensured we bowled on the posh side enabling us to set fields to defend our total, we had a plan and executed well. Finley Bowles nice with pace 0 fer 20 off 9, Tim 0 get 33 off 8... I felt spin was the key so a double changed brought Harry & myself on and combined we returned figures of 20 overs 5 fer 37! Ok Harry took all 5 but it's a team game isn't it.... Amazing stuff Hazza!
It was at this stage the Ward Army supporters club stepped up a gear with our 30plus travelling support starting this bizarre Flossing Dance led by Iris Allison & my mother! The volume on the side lines sounded like a T20 finals day with bumble & Flintoff doing a bit of ring of fire! Anyway wickets still required so when in doubt bring on Paul Allison who was on a hat trick roll over from last season... not quite but returned 2 fer 5 off 4 & Matt Smith stepping in at last minute 1 fer 12. Welbeck 126 fer 8. Hopefully Lily is ok after a trip to A&E with a finger injury, but never fear as Callum came on and took a catch on debut at 12yo!
Superb 17 points from a superb team performance, well done everyone from a great dressing room at the minute.
