Improved performance from 2nd XI, falls short against Wheatley.

The 2s were at home at the Park to North Wheatley and Leverton Cricket Club, due to the extremely long name from now on they shall be known as Wheatley.
The toss was always going to be crucial and their skipper called correct and batted.
Wheatly got off to a steady start with the Jervis brothers Dan and Alex keeping runs to a minimum.
Steady progress was made throughout the innings with bowlers constantly rotated due to the hot weather.
Wicket takers were
AJ 3-44 off 13
Flynny 1-25 off 7
Ben T 1-19 off 5
Frem 1-39 at the death
Wazza was unlucky to not take any wickets as there was good spin in the wicket
Wheatley 202-7.
We thought this was a par score at best as the outfield was lightning quick.
Tea = Solway finest gourmet selection.
We started our chase fairly well and were 44-1, me being out for 14.
Then disaster struck of the highest degree.
Roy was given out LBW with a big stride in batting well outside his crease to a left arm over. Really.
Jimmy D and Rich T decided to both bat at the same end, Jimmy run out for 18 and looking in great form.
Ben T thought catching practice was what Wheatley needed. Now 44-4.
Rich T and DJ started to slowly rebuild and got us to 79 when Dan was out for 11.
Flynny joined Rich T and a little imputous was given to the innings. Score moved on to 128 when Rich T was cruelly run out at the non strikers end as the bowler got a finger tip to a straight drive from Flynny onto the stumps. Rich T out for 28.
One handed Wazza walked to the crease, didn't last to long but highlight was hitting one of his students for a 4.
Score now 147-7, we are still in with a shout.
OJ joined Flynny but when Flynny fell for a really good 40 you sensed it was not going to be our day.
We finished on 180 all out. 7 points.
Many more positives than last week and a few what ifs.
If we had won the toss.
If openers had scored a few more runs.
If running between the wickets was better.
We move onto Kiveton next week which has now become a 'MUST WIN' game.
Onwards and upwards. UTP.
