Clumber 2nd XI beat Whitwell in Low Scoring Encounter

Team work makes the dream work as Clumber come out on top against Whitwell.
So the 2nds are up and running at last...taking the full 20 off table topping Whitwell in a tense low scoring thriller!
Whitwell elected to bat first and probably thought they were going to batter us seeing as though we came into the came bottom of the league. But a superb collective bowling effort from Simon (13 24-2), Hayden (7 22-2) and Smithy (11 37-5), backed up by some good fielding saw us bowl them out for 90.
Due to the roller issues in the week the pitch was proving a tad challenging and we knew the chase might not be straight forward. And so it proved. We lost two early wickets but then step forward young debutant Josh Sanderson who batted nearly 30 overs for a crucial 20, rebuilding with a vital 40odd run partnership with Roy (20). Great effort Josh! At this stage the umpires decided to get involved triggering Roy, John and me with garbage LBW decisions. Seriously, these guys are stealing £40. With Josh and Frem back in the pavilion too we were starting to twitch in all the wrong places as we found ourselves at 72 for 7. Given recent batting woes i think its save to say we were all a tad nervous! But Smithy (21no) played a blinder to cap a fantastic all round performance, as did Justin (9no) who cracked 2 crucial boundaries to ease the tension. Josh, Hayden, Andy, Simon, Justin were all great but it was a brilliant team effort where everyone contributed with a a vital few runs, diving stop or catch, in a game where every run was crucial! Well done everyone and thank you to Naomi for scoring and Mrs T for helping with the tea prep! ☺ ??
