CPCC 1st XI thwarted by rain in close game

Rain intervenes in close contest with Everton CC
The first team maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a rain affected game that was abandoned! I once again lost the toss and we were asked to bat! Everton’s openers bowled tight lines and the pitch proved to be a little two-paced as James Hubball
and myself limped to 16-0 from the first 12 overs! James then went with the score on 40 and that brought Tim Foulds
to the crease! Tim then went cheaply and Oliver Dean
strolled out! He struck the ball beautifully and made a very useful 30 from 28 balls! Me (75) and Ollie went in quick succession and the rest of the team chipped in, notably Sam Beardsley
with 14 and Ben Perkins
striking a 6 off the last ball! We finished on 178-7!
Everton then got off to a steady start as we struggled to find the breakthrough! AJ managed to pick up 2 wickets but we couldn’t stem the flow of runs! Joe Bayliss
was then brought into the attack and he struck in his first and only over thanks to a stunning catch at slip by Hubball! That proved to be the last over of the match with Everton on 108-3 with 21 overs left.... the game was very much in the balance!
Well done to everyone who played!
