CPCC 1st XI - Winning Draw at Killamarsh

Great start to the season for the 1's. Posting 254-9 with contributions from everyone, great to see the top order all getting into double figures this early in the season. Particular highlights were Dave's aggressive 78, William's gritty 27, a better than a run-a-ball 38 by vice skipper Warren, and Luke's composed 27 to nearly see the innings through.

On a good deck for late April, Luke and Tom opened the bowling and started well, both bowling without much luck but we did pick up a vital breakthrough in the opening exchanges. Killamarsh then hit back, despite a tight spell from Ben on debut, their number three played a very composed and aggressive 100, before he was stumped by a brilliant bit of wicketkeeping from Dave after Warren had built up some dot-ball pressure, turning the game back in our favour. Some tight bowling, a few rash shots and some tight fielding in the dark evening led Clumber to a hard earned and deserved winning draw, with Killamarsh finishing on 243-8. 17 points in the bag and the 2017 season is underway!

Incredibly proud and pleased taking the field with all the young lads that have come through the Clumber setup, it's why we play the game. Onto next weekend! UTP
