Yorkshire Terriers 154 -9 beat Clumber Storm 100 -9 in season opener.

Storm Player Carries bat in losing cause

Clumber Storm lost their first ever outdoor fixture against as strong Yorkshire Disability team at Clumber Park.

After winning the toss Storm captain Maxine Paintain asked Yorkshire to bat. Beck Law become the first Clumber Storm player to take a wicket with a sharp caught and bowled. The Yorkshire team batted well to post 154-9. Beck Law with 2 wickets and Imogen Bownes with 1 wicket were the wicket takers, special mention to Lucy Taylor who bowled well without luck, playing for both teams.

In reply Clumber lost early wickets before Marisa Hampshire (12) & Tia Thistlethwaite (19*) put together a record partnership. for the storm for the seventh wicket, adding 45 runs. The highlight of the day for the Storm, who finished on 100 runs, was an outstanding performance by Tina Thistlethwaite who carried her bat for 30 overs in her first ever outdoor match. This earned Tina the first Storm player of the match award

Our visitors complimented the Storm on their game, hospitality and a great match tea.

Support for the Storm was impressive, with a good crowd, and with both 2nd and 3rd XI captains coming to watch the game, the club were well represented with senior mens players. Thanks for everyone for your support.

The team should be proud of their first performance and are already talking about they will improve

Our next game is in a Tri-Team competition at Haxey on 29th May.
