CPCC 4th XI impress in weatehr effected game
Father and Son take on Blyth Bowling on debut in 85 run partnership.
The 4th team performed fantastically today with all kids making excellent contributions again against Blyth 2nds
Father and son debutants Josh and John Sanderson shared a 3rd wicket stand of 83.
Josh (only an u13) made an excellent and mature 22 which included some great cover drives and this was followed by Zak who played very correctly for his 12.
Meanwhile John continued to build his innings steadily before going crazy near the end with a barrage of 6’s to finish on an incredible 126, and helping Clumber to 205 all out in the last over.
In reply 14 year twin of Glen McGrath, Oliver Bowering
(10-2-23-1) bowled with great pace and control and was unlucky, constantly beating the bat or being nicked through the slips.
(6-2-8-1) and Zak Berridge (5-1-8-1) were their usual tidy selves and Ben Tomlinson
got in the wickets with 1-26 in 7.
It was a real pleasure to see Martin Hibbert
bowling and getting a wicket after 20 years away from the game, and thanks again to parents (David Bownes
, Martin Bowering
, John Sanderson) who committed to playing to ensure we got 4 teams out.
35 overs were batted by 3 under 13 and 66% of our overs were bowled by u13/14’s.
Blyth crawled to 90-4 with 13 overs left, when the umpires decided it was home time and walked off in the drizzle that we had been playing in for an hour.
PS. Their only u13 lad fielded fine leg most of the time and didn’t bat or bowl.
These kids are developing fast.
Well done OJ and Neil Tilley for working to get the new signings registered
