S. Dean bowls CPCC to victory
Lea Park CC. 91 all out CPCC 92-1
Today belonged to Simon Dean as he rolled back the years to crush Lea & Roses as the 1sts romped their way to an emphatic 9 wicket win!
The day had started cautiously for us as despite an early wicket for Ben (1-10), Lea progressed to 40-1 after choosing to bat. The match was about to change dramatically though as Simon - a man who having reached 50 years old had spent most of the winter whining about retiring - ripped through the order returning sensational figures of 7-25 from 9.3 overs! 7-25!! ???????????
Amazing stuff and whether you’re young or old, we play cricket for days like today when the cricketing Gods look down and say “it’s your day today” (hopefully they might also have whispered “now shut up talking about retiring for at least 5 years...”) ?
Simon was helped by a couple of great catches by Gaz Beard (making a Clumber return for the first time since Sept 2017) and Tren. Hayden ??Jazz hands✋? Cox provided the comedy moment of the day when he lost a catch in the sun ...”someone catch it!...where’s it gone!...I can’t see it!!....Huh!!” A bizarre catch but at least he caught it! ???Hayden also played his part with the ball working really hard to take 2-28 as Lea were blown away for just 91!
The result was never in doubt from ball one of our reply against a bowling attack that I will politely describe as poor (if anyone’s ever seen a worse Div 1 attack then please comment). Still got to get the runs though and James with a fluent 40 no, John 23 and Dave 17no saw us cruise to a comprehensive 9 wit victory. Back to back wins and a good competitive but happy vibe in the side. Let’s keep it going next week at Edwinstowe. Well done all and thanks Katy and Sharon for help with teas. UTP ????
