BDCL Division 1 Match Report: Clumber Park CC 1st XI v Everton 1st XI
Clumber secured a narrow victory in a nail biting climax against Everton.
Clumber battled back well in the field after the visitors had cruised to 77 for 1 led by the impressive Mimms (68no). James Hubball (3-32) and Simon Dean
(2-25) turned the game with 5 quick wickets, whilst Mark Dean
(2-6) and a wicket apiece for Leigh Overton, Ben Perkins
, Tom Parker
saw Everton succumb to 166 all out.
The hosts began their reply steadily through Hubball (35), John sanderson
, (24) and Dave Beard
(25). However, as the run rate started increasing, wickets began to fall in the gathering the gloom. With rain now falling steadily Oliver Dean
(24) and Charlie Shelton
(20) produced crucial knocks but then another late clatter of wickets saw the final over arrive with Clumber still needing 4 runs to win but with the final pair of Simon Dean
and Leigh Overton at the crease. In a nervy last over Overton finally scored the winning runs to secure the victory for Clumber at the end of thrilling encounter.
