The club plays most of its junior cricket in the Bassetlaw & District Junior Cricket League; we also play some fixtures in the Mansfield Junior League. To help you with the format played at each level there is a brief description given below. All junior league points are awarded as follows, 2 for a win. In the event of a tie, U18's and U15's, the team who lost the least number of wickets takes the points. U13's, U12's and U11's share the points, 1 each. Under 18. The league plays 20 over games with the batsman having to retire when he scores 50 and no one bowler being allowed to bowl more than four overs. Under 15. They again play a twenty over game but the batsman has to retire on 35, the bowling restriction is the same. Under 13's, 12's and 11's. All play “Pairs Cricket”. This is a format designed to ensure all players get involved and that the game is not dominated by one or more players. The game is played with sixteen overs per side, teams comprise of eight a side with the batsmen batting in pairs together for four overs per pair. The team starts with a score of 200, runs scored are added on, and if a wicket is lost the batsman stays in but looses five runs. All players except the wicketkeeper must bowl. Under 13 League Format 2008 Kwik Cricket This is an excellent starter game to introduce younger children to cricket. It is played with a soft orange ball and plastic bat and stumps and everyone bats and bowls. The scoring system is roughly the same as in pairs cricket with runs lost when a batsman is out. The league plays games on Sunday mornings with clubs taking it in turns to host a morning’s event at which three games will take place simultaneously. Acorns Cricket No competitive cricket |
