CLUMBER PARK CRICKET CLUB
3rd XI FIXTURES 2010
BASSETLAW & DISTRICT CRICKET LEAGUE DIVISION 7
So Clumber 3rd team enter the new decade still in Division 7 after last season’s great escape. I look forward to my second season as captain with great optimism. The ground has had another year to develop, thanks to all the hard work of the ground staff the wickets the continue to improve. A giant leap forward was taken mid way through last season with the addition of the tea room (well built Don and Ollie) and we can now accommodate spectators with the opening of the BBQ field by the National Trust on the topside of the ground.
I look to build on last season’s success and the last games momentum to push ourselves up the league this season. I believe we will have some more telling contributions from the senior players this season, which will allow the juniors to express themselves. Some juniors showed great progress last season and made significant contributions in some games, I will be looking for more consistency from these players as they push towards the 2nd team. One disappointment that I would like to address this season with some of the juniors is more commitment to cricket, they show promise and give good performances but then disappear for weeks. We need commitment for the whole season not just small parts of it. That said we some very talented junior cricketers who will eventually progress to play in the 1st team. I also see some 4th team juniors progressing to the 3rd team this season. I look forward to promoting again this season the traditions of cricket, play hard to win but in the right spirit for the enjoyment of everyone.
Please don’t forget players, parents and spectators after each game we adjourn to the Park Inn for refreshments, socialising and reliving the afternoon’s excitement.
Ivan Stallworthy.
